• Aligned with one or more of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals
• Scientifically proven with evidence of passing relevant scientific trials
• Open to researchers or inventors directly involved in developing solutions
• End-products should benefit people globally, including those from developing countries and disadvantaged communities
• Open to individuals or teams of researchers/inventors
• Preferences for nominees in active stages of their careers
• Same individual/team can be nominated for multiple Special Prizes if eligible
• Research/solution/invention can be in any discipline of science, engineering, or technology
