The European Commission's European Capital of Innovation Award seeks to recognize and reward cities that demonstrate innovation, citizen engagement, and resilience, offering a platform for cities to showcase their groundbreaking policies and practices for the benefit of their citizens and beyond.

Eligibility Criteria

• Cities must be located in an EU Member State or Associated Country to Horizon Europe
• For the European Capital of Innovation category, cities must have a minimum population of 250,000 inhabitants
• Legal entities with separate legal personality from cities are not eligible to apply
• Previous winners of the European Capital of Innovation Award are not eligible to apply
• Applicants that have already received an EU or Euratom prize cannot receive a second prize for the same activities.
