The Backing Small Businesses Grant Program offers $10,000 grants to support small businesses in the U.S. that have been impacted by FEMA-declared disasters occurring on or after January 1, 2024, helping them recover, return to normal operations, and strengthen their community presence.

Benefits

Eligibility Criteria

• Businesses must be operational on or before January 1, 2024
• Located in a county/​parish/​borough listed as a Designated Area of a FEMA Declared Disaster with an incident date on or after January 1, 2024
• Operate out of a physical "brick-and-mortar" location in an older or historic main street, downtown, or commercial district in the U.S. or U.S. territories
• Employ 20 or fewer full-time employees
• Not previously received a grant from American Express for disaster recovery
• Registered business entity in good standing in their state
• Not part of a national franchise
• Applicants must be 18 years or older and business owners.
