The Cotton Research and Development Corporation (CRDC) invites innovative startups, entrepreneurs, and research institutions to submit bold proposals aimed at advancing next-generation solutions for the cotton industry, with funding opportunities of up to $500,000 available for successful applicants, focusing on sustainable agricultural practices and addressing key challenges in cotton farming.
Benefits
- CRDC provides $50,000 support for each feasibility study project, funding at least four innovative projects
- Successful applicants may receive additional funding up to $500,000 for proof of concept within the Australian cotton system
- Project duration is approximately 10 months, with final presentations at the Australian Cotton Conference in August 2026
- Participants are eligible for the second phase of the program, which may include further research funding, co-investment, or IP equity investment
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to innovative startups, entrepreneurs, agricultural businesses, and research institutions
- Proposals must aim to advance next-generation solutions for the cotton industry
- Innovations should address challenges like limited pesticide use, effective weed management, and optimizing nitrogen fertilizer profitability
- Technologies must be suitable for cotton farming systems and cost-effective in remote and extreme climates
- Must demonstrate sustainable funding models and commercial viability beyond project lifespan
