The Green Gown Awards, organized by the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges, invites tertiary education establishments across the UK and Ireland to showcase their sustainability initiatives, with a focus on innovative plans for achieving net-zero emissions and community engagement. With categories that recognize both institutional and individual efforts, participants have the chance to win awards and funding of up to £8,500, while also gaining valuable exposure through a live judging round. This initiative encourages small institutions to apply and highlights the importance of collaboration and holistic approaches to sustainability in education.

Eligibility Criteria

• Open to any tertiary education establishment including colleges, universities, research centres, and learning institutions
• Specific categories for student applications and 3rd party applications
• Small institutions encouraged to apply with an annual turnover of £100 million or below
• Initiatives that won or were highly commended in the previous year are not eligible unless significant improvements are documented
