About

A funding program designed to support startups in British Columbia and surrounding territories by providing financial assistance for legal costs associated with intellectual property strategy and implementation, along with access to mentorship and educational resources.

Benefits

  Up to $25,000 towards select legal costs for IP strategy development

  Up to $60,000 towards select legal costs for IP implementation

  Access to mentorship and education events related to IP

Eligibility Criteria

• A startup based in BC, Yukon, Northwest Territories or Nunavut
• Fewer than 500 full-time employees
• Have an innovative technology and/or operate in the tech sector
• Own or have the rights to use your IP in Canada
• Registered non-profit organizations that meet the above may also apply

Participation Commitments

• Must meet eligibility requirements for each stream to qualify
• Co-investment requirement of minimum 25% of the service provider cost or 10% for Indigenous-owned start-ups
• Must obtain a quote from a legal service provider(s) who is registered or eligible to register with AccelerateIP
