PRIP Call 2 – Scheme for Promotion of Research and Innovation in Pharma MedTech Sector (PRIP)

About

India’s Department of Pharmaceuticals is offering co-funded, milestone-based R&D support to startups, MSMEs and industry through the second call, spanning early-stage, later-stage and NCE/NBE discovery tracks in priority pharma and MedTech areas.

Benefits

• 💰Up to ₹5 crore
  Early-Stage projects can receive up to ₹5 crore per project; projects with approved total cost up to ₹1 crore require no applicant co-funding, while costs above ₹1 crore require the applicant to co-fund half of the excess
• 💰Up to ₹100 crore
  Later-Stage projects can receive up to ₹100 crore per project, capped at 35% of approved total project cost, with the applicant co-funding the remainder
• 💰Up to ₹50 crore
  NCE/NBE Discovery Track projects can receive up to ₹50 crore per company, project or portfolio, subject to at least 25% co-funding from bona fide institutional investors
• 📈Strategic Priority Innovations
  Projects addressing India’s public health concerns with relatively lower market potential may receive up to 50% of approved total project cost, cumulatively capped at 20% of the Component B outlay
• 🤝Mentorship and ecosystem support
  Selected participants may access mentorship support, MedTech Mitra, Patent Mitra and the Scheme’s online collaboration platform

Eligibility Criteria

• Eligible applicants must be entities registered in India
• Early-Stage track requires startups or MSMEs with projects at TRL 1, 2 or 3 in a priority area, progressing to higher TRLs not beyond TRL 5
• Later-Stage track requires industry, startups or MSMEs with projects at TRL 4, 5 or 6 in a priority area, progressing to higher TRLs
• NCE/NBE Discovery Track requires startups or MSMEs in NCE or NBE priority areas at TRL 1, 2 or 3, progressing not beyond TRL 6, with at least 25% co-funding from bona fide institutional investors
• Projects must target a priority area: new medicines including NCEs, NBEs and phytopharmaceuticals; complex generics and biosimilars; or novel medical devices
• Collaboration with reputed Government academic and research institutions is preferred, with nine applications each for Early-Stage and Later-Stage projects in such collaboration given preference
